Private paying clients that do not receive a Medicare rebate for the session may be eligible with their private health fund for a subsidy. This is dependent on the health cover policy and insurance company.

Assessments

Global Developmental Delay (GDD) and Intellectual Disability (ID)

Kristelle carries out cognitive assessments to assess a persons’ intellectual functioning and strengths and weaknesses in areas such as verbal and non-verbal intelligence, speed of information processing and working memory. Assessments include a background interview with the parent or carer, information gathering from the child’s school, a one-on-one assessment session, observations of the child, a feedback session with the parent or carer, and a detailed written report with practical and specific recommendations. Assessments are offered to young people of all ages.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Kristelle became an accredited Autism SA diagnostician in 2015 and currently undertakes single diagnostic assessments. There is no biological test for ASD. Instead, it is diagnosed through observation and interaction with an individual, in conjunction with background information relating to development, health and behaviours. No two individuals’ experience of ASD is the same. This means that the specific requirements of the autism diagnostic process can vary depending on the need. A diagnosis of ASD offers a clear profile of an individual’s strengths and areas for growth, helping individuals and their families gain a better understanding of how they function and why certain challenges or behaviours may arise. It can also open doors to support services and guide the development of tailored assistance. This is often what families use to apply for NDIS funding.

Medicare Rebates

A Medicare rebate may be available for an ASD assessment with an appropriate referral from a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist (not a GP). Please contact Medicare for more information.
